From MB Dems Club Treas, Yolanda Brown, with an update on the situation for prisoners at San Bernardino County's for-profit, ICE-friendly Adelanto Detention Center -

Just wanted to share this with you. Our efforts to make a difference in Adelanto have not been in vain. Esther, a member of the coalition, got in contact with me to let me know Luis would be getting released tomorrow. As I indicated on Saturday's meeting, secondary needs are present once they are released from Adelanto (clothes, meals, toiletries, transportation, etc.). We don't have anything in place now but tomorrow I will have an opportunity to do further assessment as I will be providing some of Luis' immediate secondary needs. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to bring exposure to this issue and for all your support, especially Rebecca, as you've been doing your best to get Stacey and I together for an interview. Here's part of the email thread regarding Luis' release from Adelanto:

"Some great news!!! we got the full $10,000 from Undocumedia today, who worked very hard to raise that amount (including $2k from Human Rights Alliance). Designee Jemima will go to DHS tomorrow early morning to post bond!!! Yolanda a wonderful supporter and advocate will pick up Luis from Adelanto and he can stay with a friend in LA who has offered to support him for the the days he needs before flying out to Michigan. I will call Luis' mom now and see about arranging travel to Michigan (have spoken to her before about this). I know this took some time, but the important thing is that Luis will be out and will not be shackled or have to pay a hefty monthly payment.

Many thanks to Ivan for raising the needed $$$$."

Join the Morongo Basin Democratic Club for “This is our flag,” a rally to celebrate the freedoms and opportunities our flag represents. Bring Old Glory and signs to declare your most cherished rights, such as voting, peaceful assembly or freedom of speech to the rally from 4-6pm Saturday, Oct. 14, at the corner of Twentynine Palms Highway and Old Woman Springs Road in Yucca Valley. For too long we have allowed the conservatives to "own" the flag. We need to take it back and affirm that it represents a freedom and opportunities that are found no where else.

We will also have a few signs that communicate our Democratic values - like "everyone deserves affordable health care" and "Keep the Dreamers in the US." We will try to find some affordable small flags to give out as appropriate.
